66 Wisla, Symphony of Pink

$600.00

9x12in, oil on linen mounted to Gatorfoam panel

By the time I started this the sun was already gone and the whole scene had collapsed into one color. Sky, water, and the air over the far bank were all some version of pink.

Scenes like this are harder than they look. There is almost no value contrast left to build on, so the painting depends entirely on small shifts of temperature inside a very narrow range. The trees along the bank were the one dark note I had, and I kept them as a single mass so they would not compete with the water.
