12x9in, oil on linen mounted to Gatorfoam panel
It feels like it's been raining more than usual this summer. I remember I was moving locations on this day, and had some time to paint while on the road.
I knew rain was in the forecast, but I had nothing else to do. I found a nice enough spot, and there were some interesting clouds on the horizon. The worst of the storms stayed to my left and right, so I only had to hide in the car for a short time and otherwise painted from the trunk.
It was an interesting scene with the tumbling large cumulus clouds being overshadowed by a large stratus cloud. The shadows were a silver blue against the clear sky on the horizon, and the atmospheric perspective created pale oranges in the distance.
