9x12in, oil on linen mounted to Gatorfoam panel
Another painting location that we found to be quite accessible was the gondola ride up to Plan du Midi. One gondola ride took you up 1200m to a halfway point up the mountains. From there you had an elevated view of Chamonix to your north, rising peaks above your head to the south, and looking out east and west there were a lot of possibilities. There were almost too many possibilities. Eventually you have to paint something, so I found an interesting view with a natural gesture. This piece focuses on the rhythm of a rocky trail and alpine grasses, rather than any of the grand views.
