The record breaking temperatures continued as we all went our separate ways from Chamonix. I drove back with Kyle, Jared, and Marisa, and we spent an afternoon in Geneva at the art museum before dropping Kyle at his hotel. There were several amazing Alexandre Calame landscapes there, including his painting �Summer�. It depicted a field of rye, which left me inspired for weeks.
I had about a week to myself while France was melting. I stayed near Lyon, where I found accommodation with air conditioning. Most days I went out to paint around 6 or 7 in the morning, before the 100 degree temperatures. Sometimes I spent hours driving and found nothing, but I managed this one morning of a wheat field and rolling hills.
