9x12in, oil on linen mounted to ACM panel
It was mostly overcast, and I was able to work on this piece for almost four hours straight, until I got rained out.
Yesterday I learned that when strong storms blow wheat over and make swaths of it collapse, it's called lodging. That was the main focus of this painting. I may have accentuated it a tiny bit, but it was already beautiful on its own.
Most of the fields here were pretty rectangular, so they don't always have the best compositions. I am considering making some larger work from these studies here in Poland. But I always say that, and then get distracted. I guess we shall see.
