52 Golden Hour Road

$600.00

9x12in, oil on linen mounted to Gatorfoam panel

A sandy track cutting between two fields, which solves the problem I kept running into there. Most of these fields are flat and rectangular and offer very little to lead the eye, so when a road turns up I take it.

The grain on both sides had gone fully ripe and warm, and the treeline behind it was the darkest thing in the scene. Late light kept the fields glowing while the sky stayed pale, which held almost the whole painting in a narrow, high range of values.
