While in Chamonix, I had my 30th birthday. One of the unexpected silver linings of the new and advanced age I have stepped into is an inability to sleep in and an inclination for waking up several hours too early.
In some cases it has proved beneficial, like this time where I woke up before the sunrise. I stepped out onto our balcony, as I knew the light in the morning must be amazing. I decide to set up my easel, just in case, and was not disappointed.
It seemed that the light crept up slowly on the mountain, and I chose to capture a sliver of gold across the cool peaks of Chamonix and Mont Blanc.
